Jan Thomson . About

About ten years ago I went along to a watercolour course being run in Wellington by Janet Andrews.Luckily no one pointed out that I was beginning my painting career with the most difficult medium!I wrestled with the paint and slowly became hooked. Several years later I tried oils with John Crump , and fell for the delight of painting on site with them.Today I happily paint in both.I have been lucky enough to work with some extremely talented artists who have generously shared their skills and knowledge with me.

I go on regular painting trips in New Zealand and Australia to gather reference material and paint on site whenever I can - often around the coast of Wellington. My work is held in private collections in NZ, Australia, USA, Canada ,the UK and Dubbai.
